According to a critical alert from the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT), North Korean tools and infrastructure target the media, financial sectors and aerospace of the United States, including infrastructures that could include the healthcare industry.

U.S. Government partners, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, identification of Internet Protocol Addresses associated with a malware variant, known as DeltaCharlie, used to manage North Korea’s distributed denial-of-service botnet infrastructure.

Older, unsupported versions of Microsoft OS are particularly vulnerable, including Adobe Flash player vulnerabilities used to gain entry into users’ environments.

Other tools used by North Korean agents include keyloggers, remote access tools and wiper malware.

The government is calling the activity Hidden Cobra, and any activity detected should be immediately flagged and reported to the DHS National Cybersecurity Communications and Integration Center or the FBI Cyber Watch.
